In the Name of Halloween!

October 30, Halloween’s Eve, is today. Obviously, just check a calendar…or your phone…or like me, check your watch, or all three because you forgot halfway through the day even though you had already checked previously. This is precisely why we need multiple ways to figure things out and to go about the same task: because we’re lazy, forgetful, and need several ways to do one simplistic thing. Enough said.

Today was a pretty great day in my opinion because the weather was great: the temperature dropped and there was a slight breeze. Fall was in the air, just as the leaves have been on the ground…for quite some time. However, the weather couldn’t quite keep up with the rest of the environment this fall, much like a “late blooming” teenager, the leaves fell long before the temperature dropped.

Amidst all the glorious fall weather and spirit of Halloween, I completely forgot to get a pumpkin. A tradition that was not upheld by my family after I started middle school because nobody seemed to care anymore. And after all these years, I’d think I wouldn’t care. But readers, I longed for a pumpkin, for no specific reason at all except to fill the void of not having one for near seven years.

So I decided I might go get one from the local grocery store, but it’s far too ridiculous for me to pick it up and carve it, only to enjoy its presence for about 24 hours. So scratch that idea.

I will celebrate (by myself) the joyous holiday of Halloween by curling up in my chair and reading a book, all the while munching on marshmallows and Hershey’s chocolate bars. And I have to say, that’s pretty great in and of itself. HUZZAH!

So I say for the rest of you: enjoy the holiday in your own way with fellow trick-or-treaters, and I will enjoy it in my own special way.

Here’s hoping I don’t become a lonely old cat-man when I grow old, and also hoping for festive Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays in the coming months; the actual BIG holidays I get merry about and partake in.

The most important thing to remember this Halloween is to be safe. Don’t let some guy dressed up as a policeman “take you downtown.” Because we all know pedophiles’ favorite holiday is Halloween. 😀

Oh you [fanboyz]! & iPhone 4 Hysteria

So, today is the big day for Apple obviously. If you didn’t know that, you’ve probably been living under a rock for the past couple of weeks, or if you’re an Apple/Mac/iPhone hater, you probably have just ignored all the hysteria (which is undoubtedly hard to do). I admit, I have become a fanboy here recently but I was not able to snag an iPhone 4 on launch day (today), nor was I able to pre-order one but I wanted to so badly.

If I was 18 and had a credit card, I would have definitely went and camped at an Apple Store. Even though most commoners, *ahem* non-Apple consumers, would say camping out is ridiculous, I think it’s more about the experience instead of just trying to be a super douche to get the latest and greatest new iGadget. Instead, I’m stuck at a hospital, which I had to get up at exactly 4 AM to get to, waiting patiently for my grandmother to come back to recovery. Since I was planning on going to Walmart or another retailer to get the new iPhone before I had to come to the hospital, my mom graciously offered to go get one from our tiny, local Walmart. She called before taking off work to get it; there were 12 people waiting for it, and the cell phone rep there said they didn’t even have enough for those people, so there was really no need in coming. BUT hopefully I might be scoring one next week from AT&T. I’m gonna keep trying my luck because I really dread it if I have to wait until July 14th for it to even ship (I am leaving that day and not coming back for several days so I would be upset if it came while I was gone).

I’m pretty sure that this was more important than getting the new iPhone even though hospitals, as well as waiting in general, are a real drag, but I’m doing a huge favor for someone which makes me feel *almost* good about myself.

Apple fanboy for life, and soon-to-be-owner of a coveted new iPhone 4…

OH NO YOU DI-INT! & Candy Bar Analogies

So, the other day (well it was more like a month ago, but don’t we all say “the other day” when it normally happened up to a year ago?), I came home from school and did my normal routine, then I went over to my grandma’s because she asked me to come over for a bit. So of course I did. She complained about how depressing sitting in the house all day was and she asked me if I wanted to get something to eat. I was starving, so I accepted. I drove us to Commerce and we decided on Chick-Fil-A; mostly because she loved their peppermint milkshakes and had to have one, and she got three every time she went past Commerce so she was addicted.

And her reasoning was: “they are for a limited time so I want to get as many as I can before they stop making them.”

Ummhmm, sure…

We get to Chick-Fil-A, park, go inside then order. There were literally two tables open in the whole restaurant because they were so busy, so we opted for one of those two tables that were next to the inside-yet-not-outside playground. There was a massive amount of kids playing on the playground, as well as running around the restaurant as diners had that I-don’t-know-whose-kids-those-are-but-you-need-to-get-them-under-control stare on their faces. So I’m enjoying my dinner as my grandma is enjoying her second peppermint milkshake, meanwhile, all these kids are running around crazily and driving me insane (I can’t stand obnoxious children anyway and think that if parents can’t keep them under control, they should just not take them out in public).

I have an extremely plausible explanation to not like children: I have a half sister that is basically the devil–I know everyone says this about their siblings–but if I was Jesus (hypothetically speaking), she would be the Anti-Christ. I honestly think that the youngest sibling is sent into the world to destroy their older siblings, and that the older siblings are allowed to have homicidal thoughts (kidding) toward said youngest sibling.

Anyway, after much not needed ranting, hopefully I can get on to the topic at hand which I started this post in the first place….

Okay, here goes:

While we were trying to block out the screaming children and crying babies (there’s a difference), plus the hustle and bustling of the diners, something hilariously awful started to happen. A fuss broke out…now I know what you’re thinking: some of the kids broke out into a fight.

Yes and no; it started out as a fuss between a white child and a black (is that racist to say? Mind you, I’m not the least bit racist). Okay, so I’m just gonna refer to them as chocolate and vanilla (which sounds even more racist). Scratch that. Reese’s cup and Zero bar are our new nicknames for these children.

So Zero bar comes in from the playground complaining to her mom (referring to her as KitKat) that Reese’s cup hit her on the little play thingy outside. Well Reese’s cup told his mom (referring to her as a reversed Oreo…FORESHADOWING!) that Zero bar did the same thing to him. Both mothers were at tables parallel to each other, and perpendicular to ours. They both told their children to just go back and play. As soon as that door closed behind those children, I swear Lucifer walked into that Chick-Fil-A, or the camera crew from Jerry Springer; however, the latter seems more plausible. The mothers both started bickering, and Zero’s mom was how you say…chocolate on the inside and vanilla on the outside; so basically a reversed Oreo.

Umkay?

Well normally, “Oreo’s” get along with “Kit Kat’s” in the real world since they’re all “candy bars” right?

You bet your Hershey’s-Kisses-donk NO!

It became a word brawl. They bickered back and forth like it was a school yard, yet neither one ever got out of their seats. It was astonishing to see to adult women acting like they were in a high school parking lot about to duke it out (and their children were mere feet away!). They were shouting threats at each other with a pause in between like they were thinking of a sweet comeback. The one I remember the most was when KitKat said “well if I wasn’t pregnant, I would get up and hand your a$$ to you in front of your kids!”

It was on!
And that’s when I was like OH NO YOU DI-INT! (in my head of course, I wasn’t about to get in the middle of that.)

That was the point where everyone in the entire restaurant (sans any managers or employees) got quiet and started staring. Nobody was getting a manager or another employee or anything, it was definitely like high school; how whenever there was a fight, you wanted to see it and didn’t want a teacher to find out because you knew they would break it up and then said fight would never occur. And *sadness* would ensue, plus many “aww man’s” and other phrases of course.

After about a full minute of intense arguing, an employee/manager RAN over full speed like he was about to jump in front of a bullet and save some damsel in distress. Which that “damsel” probably would have been reverse Oreo, and he wouldn’t be dodging a bullet; it’d be a giant KitKat fist. So he asked these rhetorical questions like: “do I need to call the cops?” and other nonsense, then that was the end of it.

Everyone went about their business and I got a vanilla milkshake (zing!) and we left.

Just a small town girl…Will You Do the Fandango?!?

Season finales are always tough: one being your possibly favorite show is going on hiatus for several months, and they are normally cliffhangers which mean *sadness*!! So, how was the season finale of Glee in my opinion? First off, it was BRILLIANT, in so many ways! **THERE ARE SPOILERS, BEWARE!!** –> If you haven’t seen the finale…GO WATCH IT! 😀

It was definitely my favorite episode this season. The songs were the best part, especially the way they incorporated them into this episode. I mean normally they are incorporated but this episode was truly great. I kind of thought that they wouldn’t win first place just on account of the story and that in the end something would happen to make up for them not winning, and it did; that song to Mr. Shuester was perfect. Anyways, back to the competition, every song that was sang by both teams (Vocal Adrenaline and New Directions) had chills running all over my body throughout every song. The Glee cast can cover some songs! I thought Don’t Stop Believin’ was so symbolic because in the pilot episode of Glee there were only a few people in the Glee Club so that meant there were very few voices singing in the song; however in the season finale when they sang Don’t Stop Believin’, it was almost (if not everybody) singing. To me, that was so beautiful because it showed how strong they had grown throughout the season and how many people were connected. I have both versions of the song now, but the second version is my favorite because each person has a distinctive part. I actually teared up at a couple of points: some were because I was overjoyed (like when Shelby adopted Beth) and some (like in the very beginning) were because it was utterly dismal.

Bohemian Rhapsody was (not to offend) one of my favorites; the normal version is and so was the Glee cover. I loved how they incorporated Quinn in labor with the song, so each little interjection during the song was somehow worked in with the hospital scene. The part when everybody was rushing Quinn in the hospital was priceless, like they didn’t care about the competition because their friend needed them and they wanted to be a part of that. However, I thought it kind of strange when Rachel stayed, but it made sense because she had to play a few minor parts in the progression of the rest of the episode: telling Shelby about Beth, and when she was watching Jessie perform while he was devilishly looking at her. His hatred for her was fueling his singing and to me made him want to try and show off because he “knew” his team would win. “MAMMA MIA, MAMMA MIA!!”

I had a feeling that Rachel’s mom was going to adopt Beth as soon as Rachel told her that Quinn was at the hospital and had just had the baby. One reason was because she said she wanted a fresh start, and then when Rachel told her the baby was a girl, she kind of perked up. So, when Puck and Quinn were staring at Beth next to all the other babies in the recovery room, and then Shelby walked up next to them…I started shouting at the screen and freaking out because I had pretty much predicted it! I was overjoyed; that was one of the parts where I teared up actually.

When those judges compared Sue and the Glee Club, I was like “oh no they didn’t!” (on Sue’s behalf) because in her mind she is far from their standards, but she’s not as popular as Josh Grobin or Olivia Newton-John; so she’s kind of in the middle of a nobody and a star. Which is really what the whole show is about: being a nobody yet being a helluva lot better than average.

Even though the Glee Club “was no more” after they lost, I knew that it wasn’t truly going to be over. Mostly because there are two more seasons scheduled (of course), but I just didn’t know how they would get the Club back. The farthest way in my mind was that Sue would revive it! I knew something was up when she came to see Will, I mean I kind of thought she might come to rub it in his face but then again I think she is softening up to a degree. I doubt she will ever let her heart show though.

All in all, this episode was a mixture of happiness and sadness, which is how most (even though not permanent) endings are. So many stories came together and the music that was performed was spot on with the storyline. It was sad in the sense that it was the season finale, but happy in the sense that everything came together. And even though New Directions didn’t win, they realized how strong they had become which was much better than winning a trophy. Good job Ryan Murphy and the team!

Now to wait for the season two premiere! 😀 😀

There’s always those times where we get all nostalgic and try to be deep and think everything through; connect the things in our life with the rest of the world. It’s really quite amazing how we can be connected, but be so far apart. Like the continents, if they were truly all one continent then broke apart, but I don’t know what to believe anymore. Paradoxical/ironic, whatever you call it, life is everything and nothing (see that irony) and sometimes something clicks and your mind ponders everything. But late at night is not the time to do this. Well you could be then your-*brain explodes mid-sentence*

Posting has been slightly unknown to me for awhile, now that summer’s in full swing maybe we can keep this going.

We all have flaws which we try to conceal, to tuck away from the world, thing we want to ball up and put in a drawer under everything so no one can find it. We have problems that affect us and if it’s ever mentioned, it’s like reopening a wound. But eventually, you begin to accept that you will have to live with the flaws (most for the rest of your life) but there are some that can be changed. Through each stage of life, there are phases of humiliation which must be gone through. They are some sort of test which will either make or break you: you can go through it triumphantly, or it could be an epic fail. Either way, your life is changed in a major or minor way.

Just a thought since I hadn’t posted anything in awhile….

Hold it, rub it, use it, love it…[OH YEAH!] New MacBook Pro’s [UPDATE]

SO, I’m a Mac fan, obviously because I’m pretty sure I’ve mentioned it before…I’m currently using a 2007 MacBook I built from spare parts. It works great and all, but I have been fancyin’ one of those Aluminum Unibody MacBooks since the first time I laid eyes on the mere image of one. It was lust at first sight basically. The sad thing is I haven’t had the money to buy one, from Apple or used for that matter. But now I finally have the money to get one, and they discontinued them…[of course]. The good news is, I can afford a MacBook Pro. I buy most of my things off eBay but I want one with a warranty, new from Apple that I can actually call my own and be the person to open that one for the first time. Hold it, rub it, use it, love it, and what not. I’m a bit of shop-around person, so I look elsewhere other than Apple to find one with a warranty that is cheaper, but by gosh I couldn’t find one. I don’t really want to fork over $1200 for the base model, so I talk to a friend and he gives me some excellent advice: Refurbished Macs. They are slightly used and they come with a one year warranty just like the brand new Macs, plus you can also buy Apple Care to extend that warranty for another two years. Oh yeah, and I save $200 just by buying a “used” one. I’m ALL excited and giddy now that my heart, mind, and soul just get overjoyed. But then I hear that the MacBook Pro line is long overdue for an update. I hear this last Friday that they will probably be introduced with the updated Mac Pros next Tuesday [today]. I wait all weekend because if I’m gonna drop some serious cash money I want to get the top product for my hard earned money like any other consumer out there. I keep checking all the rumor sites and keeping Google News-ing “new macbook pros” but alas, nothing comes from Apple or any other source except the same things I’ve been hearing all weekend. The Best Buy screenshot I keep seeing is giving me hope that they will be released this week because the day they supposedly receive the shipment on that screenshot [I think] is March 14th, which was Sunday…but they wouldn’t release it on a Sunday. So this has me befundled, I’m extremely anxious to get a MacBook Pro, but I don’t wanna go get the current generation and then the new AWESOME ones come out a few days/weeks later…that would just suck Apples [‘dja see what I did there?]. Oh well, I’m just gonna wait and see how the week plays out. Hopefully some more rumors will come up that might give me a clue or an bit of hope to hold onto, but until then waiting is all I can do.

UPDATE: I know I’m late to the party but Apple updated its MacBook Pro lineup about a month ago, and a couple weeks ago updated its MacBook lineup. So there’s officially no difference between a MacBook/MacBook Pro…except whether you want “Metal [paper] or plastic?”

Ein…Zwei…Dre…brilliant

This is kind of impossible for me to even talk about. It’s just so epic I suppose. The thing that fans and critics alike have been waiting for, through all the delays and pushed back release dates they have anxiously been awaiting. But yesterday was the unveiling of this mind blowing, pop culture referencing, product placement thing. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, well just watch the embedded video. It’s definitely like…..[long pause to think of the right word; deep breath…nothing comes to mind]. It’s just beyond words actually. It fills me with utter excitement because it’s exactly how I imagined it would be…I’m obviously lying because no one could have predicted this; not even Gaga herself. I mean, she’s Gaga…that’s just it. All of these ideas are in her head, and it’s just like she keeps outdoing herself somehow. And there’s a part of you that thinks: “she’s gonna run out of creativity and wackness sooner or later”, and there’s another part of you that thinks: “she’s gonna keep outdoing herself until it literally kills her which is exactly how she would want to go; by the Fame. I’m sure it’s how she intends to go, I mean we all have to die somehow and once we’ve peaked at greatness, where do you go? I’m sure every great “famous” person has to deal with that, the only answer I can give is that they either don’t outdo themselves and they fade away and possibly come back later but they will never be as great as they were before, this is how most “famous people” go out. But this special Lady won’t go that way in my opinion. Everything just seems to get bigger and better for her. I don’t know, I’m just rambling and I felt the need to let this out because I have been one of those people who have been waiting for this…and it was just incredibly ballistic and…brilliant, to say the least. Now on to the video I suppose. I’m not gonna do a whole “synopsis” because it would ruin it for people and then they would have that opinion about it also more than likely, and that’s not what should happen at all, everyone should have their own opinions and be biased to some degree.

This has got to be by far one of the longest music videos ever, it is the longest one I have ever seen or heard of. 9 minutes and 32 seconds of pure LG, Honey Bee, and Tarantino-inspired video is amazing which to say the least is an understatement. It’s just the cinematography, visuals, and the story/plotline of this music video are brilliantly put together. In my opinion, this is a mini-movie which is exactly how it was supposed to be seen because Gaga herself stated she wanted to convolute the way people thought about music videos and pop culture in general [as she always does]. It’s the whole idea that she wants to morph pop culture so that it essentially won’t be the same stereotypical pop culture as we have known it prior to 2008 [before Gaga]. The little pop culture references in this video, which are basically thrown in as easter eggs [it takes a few times to watch the video and catch them, but once you do it makes you feel like there’s a whole other meaning to the “music video” and song altogether]. Another thing I noticed in the video was the “product placement” but not in the sense or self-promotion. They were just things that were used to show how personal this video is. The things I noticed were the Heartbeats earphones that she designed herself [which are in numerous videos], the Paper Gangsta song on the boombox in the Exercise Yard scene [which I found hilarious because I have found that song to be one of the very best on The Fame album but was never promoted and most people have never heard of it much less listened to it], and of course the Polaroid camera [Gaga is a designer for them now]. There were also little things that made you think [which was exactly what Gaga wanted fans to do], for example at the beginning of the video when she jumps on the bars and all she’s wearing are pasties and tape, which goes back to that whole internet rumor “hermaphrodite” thing, I thought that deserved a bravo for her and a touche to the internet rumor-spreader people. Then there was the ein…zwei…dre thing, which I had no idea what it meant but then of course I Googled [yes, I use Google as a verb] and found out exactly what it was, then the context to which it was used was perfectly placed. She purposely leaves little tidbits of things for people to take and digest then think what they want, and if it’s not what she envisioned, then she doesn’t care because everyone has their own way of thinking/processing. Then again, she is the epitome of things being done one way and the meaning being misconceived, which will almost always mean something different, and that’s how she wants it to be. The way I look at it is little breadcrumbs are spread throughout all of her works, and if you catch them, put ’em together, and think about every little detail about ten different ways, you’ve gotten that much closer to figuring her out. I could talk about things like this forever, and maybe I can later on because I kind of aspire to be a writer on the side [slightly] but those were the things that I caught and that’s my very short perspective. The whole mini-movie itself was completely brilliant and was WELL worth the wait. Oh yeah, and the accent at the end along with the holding hands while driving off into the desert was kind of Bonnie and Clyde meets Thelma and Louise. I haven’t completely dissected that part, but I think I’m pretty close….

The Library

So I have never actually been in a library for a very long period of time at all in my lifetime. Maybe an hour at most, but it was whenever I was little and I just played on the computer mostly. Now that I’ve gotten older, it seems that essays and such need sources from other places than the Internet. While the internet is amazing, it is VERY easy to get lost in the labyrinthine puzzle that is the internet; you get side tracked, find other interesting things, and then you look at the time…it’s somehow ten o’clock and you didn’t get any research done. You inadvertently say a profanity in your head, and then you try to get back on task. It’s very difficult to stay on task even though you know that monotonous research paper is due Monday and today is Thursday. Well in my case I just have note cards due, which is basically everything that is going to be in your paper, but it’s just a ridiculous way of organizing things in my opinion. Don’t ask Dr. Josey why they are important though because it’s not wise to argue with her. So, back to the library [see how easily I got off on topic already]. I’m sitting here on my computer of course [because how else could I be writing this] browsing the online site of this library, then I stumble upon one freakin’ book that would more than likely not aid me in my research paper. So then I start browsing other sites of other libraries in my area. The other ones have a plethora of books that I KNOW would aid me, but alas, I don’t have a library card for the other places [of course]. The atmosphere of the library seems to not really stop time but rather slow it down, which is very nice for me because as soon as I get home from school each day, time just flies by. Five hours literally goes into the future in five minutes….bleh, screw you home time. And the library has gaping windows with tables placed in front of them so even as you are on your computer, it’s nice to see there is an outside world. It’s much different because whenever I’m at home sitting at my computer, it’s mildly dark, and the only window that lets in light is about thirty times smaller than those of the library, and I don’t really see that many people or hear them talking like at the library. Although you can only see “the outside world” through peripheral vision, the sun slowly goes down and you can see objects moving and it has a slight calming effect. And the odd thing is, I get a lot more done at libraries. I don’t know, maybe it’s just me, but I like it. The added Wi-Fi [Wee-Fee] is a nice touch also. Just thought I’d post something since I actually feel like I have time, but I’m gonna leave you to get back to my research.

See you guys in the next post….

Jeeze guys, it sure has been awhile…

Today is the big day for couples, singles, and most of all, advertisers. The big winner for Valentines’ Day (or the National Singles Awareness Day as one of my readers calls it) are companies. Those who sell candy, stuffed animals, flowers, and cards are the real winners on V-Day. I’m sure a few decades ago Hallmark got together with Russell Stover and whoever the fudge is popular for selling flowers and came up with the whole “idea” for Valentines’ Day…and ended up with one of the most popular cliches. They thought they could instill the idea that people needed to buy things for their loved ones (or for themselves, or both) on a certain day to make them feel special. In my opinion I think you should make “that special someone” (as well as yourself) feel special everyday. I try to for myself but I don’t go out and buy something everyday, it’s the little things in life that get me all giddy and help me get through the day. Well, Imma wrap it up with one more thing:

Te amo

Je t’aime

Aloha wau ia ‘oe

Ich liebe Dich
